What are Tatkal Tickets ?
Tatkal tickets are reservation train tickets that are allowed to book just before one day of the departure of a train by IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation).
The tatkal tickets would be provided today for the trains that would depart tomorrow. For AC tickets, tatkal booking time is 10am IST and for Sleeper tickets, it is 11am.
How to create an IRCTC Account?
Go to IRCTC official website www.irctc.co.in
Click Register
Fill up the Basic Details, Personal Details, Address
Verify your email and Mobile number
Now your Personal IRCTC Account is created and You would have IRCTC User Id and Password
How to book tatkal reservation tickets ?
One can book tatkal tickets in two ways, online and offline.
For online Tatkal booking, One needs Personal IRCTC account, after IRCTC Registration one can get the login Id and password as explained above, he can book tatkal directly from IRCTC website or through some android app and best app I prefer is Rail Connect for Android mobile, it is available in play store.
One needs to login to the website/app before one or two minutes of the stipulated time of tatkal. Tatkal ticket booking is allowed only before 1 day of departure of the train.
For AC reservation the time for tatkal booking is 10 am morning and for Sleeper Class time is 11 am.
After login, one needs to search the ticket between the two stations just before stipulated time and When it is the time, within 1 or 2 second one needs to refresh the website/app after selecting the tatkal or premium tatkal option.
General Tatkal and premium tatkal have some differences. Actually price difference and premium tatkal is more dynamic and price hikes when seats get booked and available for a longer time than General tatkal.
Now one can see the availability of seats below and need to click there, should fill up all details very quickly and process for payment. One needs to use the fastest payment gateway like UPI etc. After payment is done, a ticket will be issued.
It is to be noted that Tatkal ticket booking needs fast internet connection and very fast moves, otherwise can not be booked and Tatkal waiting tickets will never be confirmed.
For offline tatkal booking, one needs to go to the train ticket reservation counter in train stations and to stand in the queue with filled up tatkal form before the stipulated time. If one can manage to stand at first position or second, then only he would get the tatkal ticket otherwise it's impossible to get the tatkal ticket.
